TCG Rulings
- The effect to Special Summon starts a Chain.[1]
- If the destroyed monster is no longer in the Graveyard when the effect of “Machina Armored Unit” resolves, you cannot Special Summon a monster from your Deck.[1]
- The destroyed monster must be a Machine-Type monster on the field and in the Graveyard in order to activate the effect of “Machina Armored Unit.”[1]
- If you control multiple copies of “Machina Armored Unit” you can activate each of them in a Chain and Special Summon 1 monster for each.[1]
- You look at the Attribute and ATK of the Machine-Type monster while it’s in the Graveyard.[1]
- If “Machina Armored Unit” is being treated as a monster by “Magical Hats,” it is considered a “Machina” monster.[1]
- If 2 monsters are destroyed and sent to your Graveyard at the same time, such as if your opponent controls one of your monsters and attacks another one of your monsters with the same ATK, you choose which one of those monsters you will look at when you activate the effect of “Machina Armored Unit.”[1]
OCG Rulings
- The effect of "Machina Armored Unit" which Special Summons a monster from your Deck activates and starts a Chain Link when a Machine-Type monster which was destroyed by battle is sent to the Graveyard.[2]
- "Machina Armored Unit" refers to the destroyed monster's ATK and Attribute while the destroyed monster is in the Graveyard when determining which monsters may be Special Summoned from the Deck.[3]
- Example: If "Fusilier Dragon, the Dual-Mode Beast" with 1400 Original ATK is destroyed by battle while it is being treated as an EARTH monster by "DNA Transplant", then "Fusilier Dragon, the Dual-Mode Beast" has 2800 ATK and is a DARK monster while in the Graveyard, so you can Special Summon a DARK Machine-Type monster with 2799 ATK or less.[3]
- If a Machine-Type monster is destroyed by battle while you control multiple copies of "Machina Armored Unit", then you can activate each copy's effect in a Chain. Each effect will resolve and Special Summon another Machine-Type monster.[4]
- The effect of "Machina Armored Unit" can only be activated if the destroyed monster is a Machine both when it was destroyed by battle and when it is sent to the Graveyard. Thus, you cannot activate the effect of "Machina Armored Unit" if the monster is not a Machine while it is face-up on the field because of "DNA Surgery", nor if the monster is not a Machine while it is in the Graveyard.[5]
- Suppose your opponent controls a Machine-Type monster that you own while "Machina Armored Unit" is active. If a Machine-Type monster that you own and control attacks your opponent's and both monsters are destroyed, then both monsters are sent to your Graveyard at the same time. At this time, if you activate the effect of "Machina Armored Unit", then you must declare one of those monsters and have "Machina Armored Unit" use only that monster.[6]
Mentions in Other Rulings
- Scrap Recycler: You can activate the effect of "Scrap Recycler" even if it is Special Summoned during the Damage Step - for example, if it is Special Summoned by the effect of "Machina Armored Unit".[7]
