TCG Rulings[]
Related Rulings[]
- CLARIFICATION:
- The effect of “Blackwing – Shura the Blue Flame” activates when monsters are destroyed and sent to the Graveyard at the end of the Damage Step. This is the same timing as the effects of cards like “Hydrogeddon,” “Blue Thunder T-45,” “Goyo Guardian,” and “Elemental Hero Flame Wingman” [sic].
- In order for its effect to activate, “Blackwing – Shura the Blue Flame” must be face-up on the field when the monster it destroyed by battle is sent to the Graveyard. This means:
- If Shura and the other monster destroy each other by battle (equal ATK), Shura’s effect does not activate.
- If Shura is destroyed by a Flip Effect like “Man-Eater Bug,” Shura’s effect does not activate.
- If Shura is flipped face-down after damage calculation by a card effect, such as “Desertapir,” Shura’s effect does not activate.
- If Shura is removed from play [sic] by battling “D.D. Warrior,” Shura’s effect does not activate.
- If Shura is destroyed by an effect after the monster it destroyed by battle was sent to the Graveyard, such as “Michizure,” Shura’s effect DOES activate, and you can Special Summon a monster.
- NOTE: These rules also apply to any other monster with the text “When this card destroys an opponent’s monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard….” (Examples: “Hydrogeddon,” “Goyo Guardian,” or “Elemental Hero Flame Wingman” [sic].)
- These rules do NOT apply to monsters with the text “When this card destroys an opponent’s monster by battle….” (but does not specify “and sends it to the Graveyard”). (Example: “Blue Thunder T-45”.) Monsters with that text will activate their effects in ALL of the above scenarios.
OCG Rulings[]
- The effect of "Goyo Guardian" is a Trigger Effect.[1]
- If "Goyo Guardian" destroys an opponent's monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard, its effect can be activated at the end of the Damage Step.[1]
- If "Goyo Guardian" battles a monster with the same ATK and both monsters are destroyed by battle, its effect cannot be activated.[1]
- If "Goyo Guardian" destroys a monster that you own in your opponent's Monster Zone, its effect can be activated. (If "Goyo Guardian" destroys a "Jutte Fighter" that you own in your opponent's Monster Zone, "Jutte Fighter" is Special Summoned from your Graveyard to your Monster Zone in Defense Position.)[2]
- When "Goyo Guardian" destroys a Fusion, Synchro, or Xyz Monster in the Extra Monster Zone by battle and sends it to the Graveyard, "Goyo Guardian" can activate its effect and Special Summon that monster in Defense Position. When "Goyo Guardian" destroys a Link Monster in the Extra Monster Zone by battle and sends it to the Graveyard, "Goyo Guardian" cannot activate its effect.[3]
- Suppose "Goyo Guardian" destroys "Colossal Fighter" by battle and sends it to the Graveyard, and "Colossal Fighter" targets itself with its own effect. Since the effect of both "Goyo Guardian" and "Colossal Fighter" are optional effects that can be activated at the end of the Damage Step, the monster controlled by the turn player can activate its effect as Chain 1, and the other effect can be activated in a Chain.[4]
- If the effect of "Goyo Guardian" is activated as Chain 1, and the effect of "Colossal Fighter" is activated as Chain 2, since "Colossal Fighter" Special Summons itself and is no longer in the Graveyard, the effect of "Goyo Guardian" is not applied.[4]
- If the effect of "Colossal Fighter" is activated as Chain 1, and the effect of "Goyo Guardian" is activated as Chain 2, since "Colossal Fighter" is Special Summoned by the effect "Goyo Guardian" and is no longer in the Graveyard, the effect of "Colossal Fighter" is not applied.[4]
