OCG Rulings[]
- Normally, for Normal Trap Cards and Counter Trap Cards, after they are activated and resolve they are destroyed and sent to the Graveyard. Continuous Trap Cards with the "Continuous" icon and Trap Cards like "Metalmorph" and "Blast with Chain" which equip themselves to monsters remain face-up on the field after activation.[1]
- The following cards from before Magic Ruler was released on April 20, 2000 do not have the "Continuous" icon, but during the Duel they are still treated as Continuous Trap Cards: "Ultimate Offering", "Royal Decree", "Magical Thorn", "Robbin' Goblin", "Dragon Capture Jar", and "Call of Darkness".[1]
- Effects of Continuous Trap Cards only apply as long as the Continuous Trap Cards remain face-up on the field. If "Dust Tornado" or "Mystical Space Typhoon" is chained to "Dragon Capture Jar" so that "Dragon Capture Jar" is not on the field when its effect is resolving, then do not apply its effect and do not shift all Dragon-Type monsters to Defense Position.[2]
- While "Dragon Capture Jar" is active, "Curse of Fiend" can still be activated. Dragon-Type monsters will shift to Attack Position, but the effect of "Dragon Capture Jar" will immediately shift them back to Defense Position.[3]
Previously Official Rulings[]
These TCG rulings were issued by Upper Deck Entertainment and have since been deemed unofficial by Konami.[5] They were previously considered official and can still be correct, as long as they follow the official gameplay rules, or unless Konami has issued a ruling that says otherwise. - Dragon-Type monsters on both sides of the field are affected by Dragon Capture Jar.
- If Stop Defense is activated targeting a Dragon-Type monster, it is switched to Attack Position, but then is immediately changed back to Defense Position since the effect of Dragon Capture Jar is continuous.
- "Dragon Capture Jar" is not a card that specifically designates a target. The effect is automatic and effects the whole Field. In this case, "Dragon Capture Jar" is not nullified even if you have a "Lord of D." on the Field.[Q&A][4]
Mentions in Other Rulings
- Total Defense Shogun: If Total Defense Shogun is a Dragon-Type because of D. Tribe or DNA Surgery, and Dragon Capture Jar is in play, Total Defense Shogun can still attack.
