OCG Rulings[]
- The monster effect "While there is a Plant-Type monster on your side of the field, this card cannot be attacked" is a Continuous Effect.[1]
- If the controller of "Arcane Archer of the Forest" has 1 or more face-up Plant-Type monsters in their Monster Zones, "Arcane Archer of the Forest" cannot be attacked.[1]
- The monster effect "By Tributing 1 Plant-Type monster on your side of the field, destroy 1 Spell or Trap Card on the field" is an Ignition Effect. (It targets 1 Spell/Trap Card on the field.)[1]
- Tributing 1 Plant-Type monster in your Monster Zone is a cost at the time the effect "destroy 1 Spell or Trap Card on the field" is activated. (You can Tribute a face-down Defense Position Plant-Type monster.)[1]
Previously Official Rulings[]
These TCG rulings were issued by Upper Deck Entertainment and have since been deemed unofficial by Konami.[2] They were previously considered official and can still be correct, as long as they follow the official gameplay rules, or unless Konami has issued a ruling that says otherwise. - If "Arcane Archer of the Forest" is your only monster on the field, and you turn it into a Plant-Type monster, your opponent cannot attack, and you can Tribute "Arcane Archer of the Forest" to activate his own effect.
