In the anime, this card's effect allowed the controller to Special Summon an "Ivy Token" to the opponent's field when it was selected as an attack target, instead of as a Flip Effect. This is because monster cards are rarely played face-down in the modern anime series.

In Episode 16, Akiza Izinski used this card in her Ground Duel against Gill Randsborg. Right after she summons this card, she uses "Seed of Deception" to summon "Copy Plant" to the field. She then uses the effect of "Copy Plant" to make its Level the same as the Level of "Masked Knight LV5". Since "Masked Knight LV5" is Level 5, "Copy Plant" becomes Level 5. Akiza then tunes this card with "Copy Plant" to Synchro Summon "Black Rose Dragon".

In episode 23 Akiza Summoned "Wall of Ivy" in Defense Position and used its effect to Summon an "Ivy Token" to Yusei's field. Akiza later revive "Wall of Ivy" with "Cursed Ivy", and use it to Special Summon even more "Ivy Tokens" to Yusei's field.

In episode 24 Akiza removed this from play to use "Black Rose Dragon's" effect.
