* In episode 12, Rex Raptor uses this card during his Duel against Joey Wheeler. After Rex summons this card, he equips this card with "Dragon Nails", increasing its ATK by 600. This card then attacks and destroys both "Swamp Battleguard" and "Lava Battleguard". On the last turn of the Duel, Rex (after realizing how powerful "Time Wizard" could be in his Deck) tells Joey that they will wager the cards they have currently with each other and the winner will obtain all the cards that were on the field prior to the declaration. Joey then summons "Time Wizard" and activates its effect. Joey succeeds in the effect, so the effect of "Time Wizard" destroys this card and inflicts damage to Rex equal to half of this card's ATK, winning Joey the Duel. As per the stakes of the duel, Joey won this card and "Dragon Nails" from Rex.

** Ironically, this card was revealed to be Rex's most powerful monster in his deck once it's summoned, and even Mai Valentine comments on how he finally summoned a card that can defeat Joey, despite the fact that the previously summoned "Serpent Night Dragon" was about as strong, only being 50 points weaker. It's likely that this was simply done for dramatic effect.
  +
*** It’s also likely that the stunned reactions from the characters was because of this card’s rarity, as even Yugi Muto pointed out that he didn’t even know this card truly existed until it was summoned. Rare cards don’t necessarily need to be powerful.

Yu-Gi-Oh!

• In the Spanish dub of the Anime, this card was known as "Dragón Negro de Ojos Rojos".

Pre-Duelist Kingdom

Duelist Kingdom

• In episode 12, Rex Raptor uses this card during his Duel against Joey Wheeler.
• Ironically, this card was revealed to be Rex's most powerful monster in his deck once it's summoned, and even Mai Valentine comments on how he finally summoned a card that can defeat Joey, despite the fact that the previously summoned "Serpent Night Dragon" was about as strong, only being 50 points weaker. It's likely that this was simply done for dramatic effect.
• It’s also likely that the stunned reactions from the characters was because of this card’s rarity, as even Yugi Muto pointed out that he didn’t even know this card truly existed until it was summoned. Rare cards don’t necessarily need to be powerful.
• In episode 16, Joey uses this card during his Duel against Seto Kaiba. After Joey summons this card, he uses it to attack and destroy Kaiba's "Rabid Horseman". Kaiba's "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" then attacks and destroys this card, defeating Joey.
• This card can also be seen in Kaiba's briefcase when he takes out a Duel Disk from his briefcase and tosses it to Joey.
• In episode 18, Joey uses this card during his Duel against Bonz. After Joey summons this card, he uses it to attack and destroy Bonz's "Pumpking the King of Ghosts", preventing "Pumpking" from continuously increasing Bonz's Zombies' ATK. Bonz's "Dragon Zombie" (which had 2880 ATK due to the Graveyard Field Power Bonus and the effect of "Pumpking") then attacks and destroys this card.
• This card also appears within a series of flashbacks Joey has when he remembers all the times that "Time Wizard" gave him a miraculous win.
• In episode 33, Joey uses during his Duel against Yami Yugi. After Joey summons this card, he activates "Graverobber" to steal Yami Yugi's "Summoned Skull" from the Graveyard and Special Summon it to his side of the field. Joey then activates "Copycat" to activate the "Polymerization" in Yugi's Graveyard as his card, allowing Joey to fuse this card with "Summoned Skull" and Fusion Summon "Black Skull Dragon".

Legendary Heroes

• In episode 44, Joey uses this card when he and his friends get attacked by a "Sand Stone" while they were going through the desert. Joey summons this card and uses it to attack and destroy "Sand Stone". Later Joey uses this card when he and his friends had to defeat the "Gate Guardian" who was blocking the way out of the maze. Yugi activates "Polymerization" to fuse "Summoned Skull" with this card and Fusion Summon "Black Skull Dragon".
• In episode 45, Joey summoned this card in the battle against the Big Five's "Mythic Dragon". This card, Kaiba's "Blue-Eyes White Dragon", Mai Valentine's "Harpie's Pet Dragon", and Yugi's "Curse of Dragon" then attack "Mythic Dragon", but the Mythic Dragon easily blocks the attacks with attacks of its own. When Mokuba was about to be attacked by the "Mythic Dragon", Joey orders this card to block the attack. Mythic Dragon then destroys this card and this causes Joey to disappear because his Life Points had hit zero. Later, the presence of this card in the Graveyard increases the ATK of Yugi's "Dragon Master Knight" by its own effect, allowing it to destroy "Mythic Dragon".

Battle City

• In episode 55, Yugi tells Joey about the Ante rule in Battle City, Joey takes this card out and notes that means someone can take away this card from him if he loses. He then claims this card is his goddess of victory, and he'll just keep winning to get one rare card after another. When Joey tries to register for Battle City, the Rare Hunter in charge of registration was going to deny his entry due to his skill level being too low, but he notices that this card is Joey's rarest card. Seeing how rare this card is, the Rare Hunter ultimately changes Joey's Level secretly so he can be registered in Battle City, but only so that the Rare Hunters could acquire this card. After Yugi and his friends leave, the Rare Hunter calls some other Hunters and states that he found a nice catch for them. Later, during the night, as Joey heads off to the hospital, several Rare Hunters ambushed him, and he was forced to duel against one of them. Joey uses this card during his Duel against this Rare Hunter. He Tribute Summons this card by Tributing "Panther Warrior" and "Alligator's Sword". This card then attacks and destroys his opponent's "Death Hand". On the last turn of the Duel, the Rare Hunter successfully summons "Exodia" by gathering all five "Forbidden One" monsters into his hand. He then uses "Exodia" to attack and destroy this card, defeating Joey. As per the Battle City Rules, the Rare Hunters win this card from Joey.
• In episode 57, Yugi won this card from the same Rare Hunter who ambushed Joey upon defeating him in a Duel, as per the ante rule of the Battle City Tournament. Yugi offers this card to Joey, but Joey tells Yugi to keep it for the remainder of the tournament, since he wanted to became a better Duelist in order to challenge Yami Yugi and win back this card.
• In episode 60, Yami Yugi, after watching Joey defeat Espa Roba, takes this card out and looks at it. Yugi notes that this card is Joey's courage and that Joey wants to win it back after Battle City is over.
• In episode 64, during Joey's duel against Weevil Underwood, this card is shown when Joey remembers Yugi telling him that Yugi will keep this card until Joey becomes a true duelist.
• After Yugi saw Joey's win over Weevil, he takes this card out and notes Joey was able to win without this card's assistance. He then notes he will soon be able to return this card back to Joey, but Marik Ishtar had previously warned him about "the Quiet One," so he wonders where that Rare Hunter is.
• In episode 74, this card appears in a flashback Yami Yugi has when he notes he must save Joey from Marik.
• This card also appeared within some of the small clips that were shown going through a black background before we see a montage of Yugi's Battle City Duels.
• In episode 75, When Marik possessed Joey and ordered him to Duel Yugi, Yugi included this card into his deck in hopes that it would break through the Millennium Rod's control.
• This card also appears in a flashback Yugi has when he remembers the promise Joey made to him about winning back this card once he becomes a true duelist.
• In episode 76, Yugi uses this card during his Duel against Joey while the latter was possessed by Marik. Yugi activates "Exchange" in the middle of the duel and shows Joey this card, which did indeed temporarily return him to his normal self. Yugi then Tribute Summons this card by Tributing "Big Shield Gardna" and "Kuriboh". This card then attacks and destroys Joey's "Alligator's Sword" (whose ATK was 800 due to "Spellbinding Circle"). After Joey activates "Attrition", "Rocket Warrior" then attack this card. Due to the first two effects of "Rocket Warrior", it is not destroyed and Joey took no Battle Damage. After damage calculation, the last effect of "Rocket Warrior" activates, reducing this card's ATK by 500 until the End Phase. The effect of"Attrition" then reduces this card's ATK by 1500. In the next episode, this card regains the ATK "Rocket Warrior" took from it during Joey's End Phase. Later, Marik ordered Joey to use "Panther Warrior" to attack this card, so that he can win the duel and get what he wants, but Joey orders "Rocket Warrior" to attack "Beta The Magnet Warrior". Yugi then activates "Magic Arm Shield" to redirect the attack to "Panther Warrior". Due to the first two effects of "Rocket Warrior", it is not destroyed and Joey takes no Battle Damage. After damage calculation, the last effect of "Rocket Warrior" reduces the ATK of "Panther Warrior" by 500 until the End Phase. "Attrition" then reduces the ATK of "Panther Warrior" by 1500. In the following episode, Yugi lost the duel as he did not want to see Joey die. Joey then uses the side effect of "Meteor of Destruction" to force this card to attack him directly, resulting in his Life Points dropping to 0 and ending the duel in a Draw.
• In the third above-mentioned episode, this card appears in a series of flashbacks Joey has when he starts to remember that he is a Duelist and he begins to fight against Marik's mind control.

Virtual World

• In episode 99, this card appears when Yami Yugi was building his Virtual World Deck for his Duel against Gansley. This card is one of the few known cards that Yami Yugi selects to be placed into his Deck.
• In episode 113, this card appears in a flashback Joey has when he remembers facing "Five-Headed Dragon" previously and the latter monster destroying this monster.

Battle City Finals

• In episode 124, this card appears in a flashback Yugi has when he remembers the promise Joey made to him around the start of Battle City.
• In episode 129, this card is seen in a flashback Yugi has when he remembers the last time he used "Exchange" and how the latter card helped him save Joey from Marik's mind control.
• In episode 133, Yami Yugi uses this card during his Duel against Seto Kaiba. He summons this card via the effect of Kaiba's "The Flute of Summoning Dragon". The first "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" then attacks "Dark Magician", but Yami Yugi activates "Magician's Selection" to negate the attack and destroy "Lord of D.". The second "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" then attacks and destroys "Beta the Magnet Warrior". The third "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" then attacks this card, but Yugi activates "Spellbinding Circle" to stop the attack and decrease the attacking "Blue-Eyes White Dragon's" ATK by 700. This card then attacks and destroys the weakened "Blue-Eyes White Dragon". In the next episode, Yugi attempts to switch this card into Defense Position, but Kaiba activates "Final Attack Orders" to keep all monsters on the field in Attack Position and force both players into selecting three cards in their Deck to keep while the rest of the cards in their Deck go to the Graveyard. Later "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon" attacks this card, but Yugi activates "Magic Formula" to increase the ATK of "Dark Paladin" by 500, however Kaiba activates "Absorb Spell" to switch the target of "Magic Formula" to "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon", increasing its ATK by 500. Yugi then activates "De-Fusion" to return "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon" to the Extra Deck and Special Summon the three "Blue-Eyes White Dragons" in Kaiba's Graveyard to his side of the field. This card remained on the field until the Duel was over.
• In episode 135, this card appears at the beginning of the episode when Yugi makes his winning move.
• This card is seen in a flashback Yugi has when he remembers that he could not have defeated Kaiba without Joey's help.
• This card is also shown in another flashback Yugi has when he explains to Kaiba that he and Joey defeated Kaiba with this card which he allowed Yugi to keep in his Deck for the time being. Yugi then takes the card off his Duel Disk and shows this card to Kaiba while explaining that this card is not an ordinary card as its strength comes from the bond between himself and Joey.
• In episode 143, this card is shown in two flashbacks Kaiba has. One flashback Kaiba has is when he remembers losing against Yugi at the tower. The other flashback Kaiba has (which is a continuation of the previously-mentioned flashback) is when he remembers Yugi showing him this card and explaining to Kaiba that this card was given to him by a friend and it in turn gave him the power that brought him victory.
• This card also appeared in two flashbacks Yugi has. The first flashback is when Yugi remembers that he had offered Joey this card back after winning it back from the Rare Hunter, but Joey refuses as he wanted to wait until he can prove that he was worthy of getting it back. The other flashback Yugi has is when he remembers winning Joey back from Marik's mind control and telling him they defeated Marik together.
• After Battle City is done, Yugi and Yami Yugi rebuild their Deck for their Duel against Joey as they promised to Duel each other when Joey became a strong enough Duelist. As they are rebuilding their Deck, Yugi holds this card up. Both Yugi and Yami Yugi nod to each other since they know that the upcoming Duel with Joey will determine if Joey is strong enough to win this card back under his possession.
• Joey is assumed to have won this card back after his post-Battle City Duel against Yugi as he has it in the next two seasons.

Waking the Dragons

• In episode 159, this card appears in one of two flashbacks Weevil and Rex have when they remember their losses against Yugi and Joey respectively in Duelist Kingdom and declare to Dartz they want revenge against Yugi and Joey for those losses.
• In episode 161, Joey uses this card during his Duel against Rex Raptor. He Special Summons this card by Tributing a Sheep Token affected by "Star Blaster". Joey then equips this card with "Metalmorph", increasing its ATK and DEF by 300. This card then attacks Rex's "Horned Saurus" (whose ATK was 2500 due to "The Seal of Orichalcos"). The effect of "Metalmorph" then activates, increasing this card's ATK by half of the ATK of "Horned Saurus" during damage calculation only. This card then destroys "Horned Saurus". In the next episode, "Tyrant Dragon" (who had 3400 ATK due to "The Seal of Orichalcos") attacks and destroys this card. Rex then activates "Chain of the Underworld" to Special Summon this card from Joey's Graveyard to his side of the field and decrease its ATK by 700, as well as allow Joey to draw a card. "Tyrant Dragon" then attacks this card again due to its effect, but Joey activates "Celebration of Creation" to end Rex's turn. Later Joey activates "Claw of Hermos" to merge the latter with this card in order to create "Red-Eyes Black Dragon Sword".
• In the first above-mentioned episode, this card is shown in a flashback that Rex has when he remembers how he lost to Joey in Duelist Kingdom.
• In episode 173, Joey uses this card during his Duel against Mai Valentine. He summons this card via the effect of "Knight of Dark Dragon", while being reminded that it cannot attack when summoned through that effect. Joey then activates "Claw of Hermos" to merge it with this card in order to create "Red-Eyes Black Dragon Sword".
• In episode 181, this card appears in a flashback Yami Yugi has when he remembers Dueling Joey at the docks of Battle City while Joey was possessed by Marik.
• In episode 182, Joey Summons this card to aide in the battle against The Great Leviathan. Yami, Joey, and Kaiba, after bringing out three monsters each, then summon their Legendary Dragons. Yami then uses "Legend of Heart" to transform the Dragons into the three Legendary Knights. All the monsters summoned by Yami, Joey, and Kaiba then attack the Great Leviathan, but it doesn't work. When the Great Leviathan counterattacks, Yami quickly has Timaeus absorb the power of "Big Shield Gardna" to protect everyone from the attack. While this saves the chosen Duelists and the Legendary Knights, it doesn't save the other monsters summoned by the Chosen Duelists.

Grand Championship

Dawn of the Duel

• In episode 219, Joey Summons this card to battle Zorc and his evil zombies. Despite all the attacks that Yugi and his friends and allies threw at Zorc, he remains unharmed by the attacks. Zorc then destroys this card, Tristan's "Super Roboyarou", and Téa Gardner's "Fire Sorcerer".

Yu-Gi-Oh! Capsule Monsters

• In episode 7, Joey merged with this monster, which briefly became his armor, but his mind became controlled by a sword's evil curse that was also controlling this monster. Yugi was able to reverse the curse by removing the sword lodged within, and this monster became Joey's partner in this arc.
• In episode 9, Joey sends this monster to battle the Fiendish Five Dragons, but fails to defeat them. In the next episode, Joey has this monster attack the "Five-Headed Dragon" to protect a villager, although "Five-Headed Dragon" knocks this monster to the ground in retaliation.
• In episode 11, Joey summons this monster against Alexander the Great and his subjects. At the beginning of the battle, Joey is knocked off of this monster by "Manticore of Darkness". After Alexander's "Seven-Armed Fiend" this monster attacks, but is blocked by the Arm of Defense. Later, after Joey's "Flame Swordsman" is destroyed by an army of "Skull Knight 2", this card destroys much of the army with "Rapid Fire Flame Strike". In the next episode, this monster attacks Alexander merged with "Reshef the Dark Being", although the attack is deflected by "Reflect Bounder". Afterwards, Joey has this monster attack "Reflect Bounder", allowing Yugi to attack Alexander uninhibited. After Alexander absorbs "Reflect Bounder" to upgrade "Reshef" to its ultimate form, "Red-Eyes" attacks "Reshef", although the damage from the attack is absorbed by its core formed by "Firewing Pegasus" and "Total Defense Shogun". This monster is then attacked by "Reshef's" "Projectile Pummel" attack powered by "Garma Sword". As Alexander prepares to finish off Joey, "Red-Eyes" lends itself to Yugi's Armor of Unity to deflect the attack.

Yu-Gi-Oh! GX

• In episode 75, this card appears in a flashback Tyranno Hassleberry when he sees the dock during the field trip to Domino City and states to his friends it's the same place where Yugi was forced to Duel Joey due to Marik possessing Joey.
• In episode 89, Atticus Rhodes uses this card during his Duel against Zane Truesdale. He Special Summons this card via "Red-Eyes B. Chick's" effect. Atticus then activates "Inferno Fire Blast" to inflict damage to Zane equal to the original ATK of this card. On Zane's turn, he uses "Cyberdark Horn" (whose ATK was 2400 due to it being equipped with "Red-Eyes Black Chick" and "Megamorph") to attack this card, but Atticus activates "Negate Attack" to negate the attack and end the Battle Phase. On Atticus' turn, he Tributes this card in order to Special Summon "Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon". On the last turn of the Duel, Zane summons "Cyberdark Dragon" and activates the effect of "Cyberdark Dragon" to take this card from Nightshroud's Graveyard and equip it to "Cyberdark Dragon", increasing its ATK by the ATK of this card. This card remained on the field until the Duel was over.
• In episode 131, Atticus uses this card to help himself and his friends open a portal to another dimension so that they can find Jesse Anderson and rescue him.

Atticus then activates "Inferno Fire Blast" to inflict damage to Jaden equal to the original ATK of this card. Atticus then Tributes this card in order to Special Summon "Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon". On the last turn of the Duel, Jaden activates "Hero's Rule 1: Five Freedoms" to banish this card, "Red-Eyes B. Chick", "Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon", "Cave Dragon", and "Inferno Fire Blast" from Atticus' Graveyard.
• In episode 164, this card is shown in a series of flashbacks Syrus Truesdale has when he deduces that Zane's problems came from his Deck, not the underground Dueling he was involved with.
• In episode 173, Atticus uses this card during his Duel against Yusuke Fujiwara. He sends this card from the top of his Deck to the Graveyard via the effect of "Clear Phantom". Yusuke then activates "Memory Snatcher" to prevent Atticus from checking what cards are in his Graveyard and allow Nightshroud's powers to prevent Atticus from remembering what cards went to his Graveyard. When Atticus activates "Swing of Memories" to revive this card, the effect of "Memory Snatcher" forced Atticus to declare what card he is targeting. Atticus is unable to remember the cards that went to his Graveyard until Jaden and Jesse reach out to him. Atticus then declares that this card is the target for "Swing of Memories". As this card was in Atticus' Graveyard, "Memory Snatcher" doesn't negate "Swing of Memories" and this card is revived. This card then attacks and destroys "Clear Rage Golem". On Atticus' End Phase, this card is destroyed due to the last effect of "Swing of Memories". Atticus then banishes "Red-Eyes Wyvern" from his Graveyard in order to revive this card. In the next episode, "Clear Vice Dragon" (which had 4800 ATK via its own effect) attacks this card, but Atticus activates "Burst Breath" to Tribute this card and destroy "Clear Vice Dragon". Later Atticus activates "Dark Factory of Mass Production" to add this card and "Hunter Dragon" from his Graveyard to his hand. Atticus then sends "Red-Eyes Black Chick" to the Graveyard via its effect in order to Special Summon this card from his hand. Atticus then activates "Inferno Fire Blast" to target this card and inflict damage to Yusuke equal to this card's original ATK. On the last turn of the Duel, "Clear Rage Golem" attacks this card. Yusuke then activates the effect of "Attribute Mastery" to destroy this card without applying damage calculation. Atticus then activates "Red-Eyes Burn" to inflict the ATK of this card as damage to both players, ending the Duel in a Draw. In reality, everything after the summoning of "Clear Vice Dragon" had all taken place in Atticus' mind as Yusuke was trying to find Atticus' darkness. "Clear Vice Dragon" then attacks this card. Due to the effect of "Clear Vice Dragon", its ATK becomes equal to the ATK of this card times two until the end of the Damage Step. Atticus then activates "Burst Breath" in response, but Yusuke activates the fourth effect of Clear Vice Dragon" to negate and destroy "Burst Breath". "Clear Vice Dragon" then destroys this card, defeating Atticus.

Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL
