The 2012 Austrian National Championship was a World Championship Qualifier for the 2012 World Championship. It determined the 2012 national champion of Austria and was won by Deniz Mailänder.[2]

The entry fee was 8€ for the main event and 4€ for the Dragon Duel.[1] 155 people took part in the main event.[3]

Main event[]

After seven rounds of Swiss, the format switched to single-elimination.[4]

In the top sixteen, Damir Ramic defeated Daniel Lieb, Bernhard Hoeger defeated Michael Gstöttenmayr, Deniz Mailänder defeated Sebastian Pichler, Patrik Rieder defeated Michael Letonja, Claudio Kirchmair defeated Stephan Reither, Bernhard Apfelthaler defeated Daniel Angerer, Manuel Egger defeated Lukas Zöschg and Paul Ablöscher defeated Ying Jun Qi.[5]

In the quarter finals, Bernhard Hoeger defeated Damir Ramic, Deniz Mailänder defeated Patrik Rieder, Bernhard Apfelthaler defeated Claudio Kirchmair and Paul Ablöscher defeated Manuel Egger.[5]

In the semi finals, Deniz Mailänder defeated Bernhard Hoeger and Bernhard Apfelthaler defeated Paul Ablöscher.[5]

In the final, Deniz Mailänder defeated Bernhard Apfelthaler.[2]

The Dragon Duel was won by Paul L., who used a "Bubble Beat" Deck and defeated Andreas L., who used an "Inzektor" Deck, 2-1 in the finals.[8]
